Nourishing homemade chicken soup.

Packed with fresh vegetables, herbs, and slow-simmered chicken broth, this soup is designed to support your body with wholesome, nourishing ingredients while being gentle on the stomach.

Whether you’re fighting a cold, recovering from a long week, or simply craving something comforting, this bowl of goodness feels like a warm hug.

Why Chicken Soup Helps You Feel Better

Chicken soup has long been considered a natural remedy for colds and fatigue. The combination of broth, vegetables, and protein helps hydrate the body and provide important nutrients.

Some benefits include:

Warm broth helps soothe the throat and encourages hydration
Garlic and onions support immune health
Vegetables provide vitamins and minerals
Chicken protein supports recovery and strength

And honestly, sometimes the healing part is simply slowing down and enjoying a comforting meal.

Ingredients

1 whole organic chicken (or about 2 pounds bone-in chicken pieces)
10 cups filtered water or high-quality chicken stock

2 carrots, chopped
2 celery stalks, chopped
1 medium onion, diced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon sea salt (adjust to taste)
½ teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon dried parsley

1 bay leaf

Optional additions:
• fresh ginger slices
• turmeric for anti-inflammatory support
• chopped kale or spinach

Directions

  1. Place the chicken in a large soup pot and cover with water or broth.

  2. Add onion, garlic, carrots, celery, and herbs.

  3. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 60–90 minutes.

  4. Remove the chicken, shred the meat, and return it to the pot.

  5. Taste and adjust salt and pepper as needed.

  6. Simmer another 10 minutes so the flavors blend together.

Serve warm and enjoy.

Aunt Be’s Healing Tip

When I’m feeling especially run down, I like to add:

• fresh grated ginger
• a pinch of turmeric
• extra garlic

These ingredients add warmth and additional immune support.

Make It a Comfort Ritual

Healing isn’t only about what we put in our bodies. It’s also about slowing down, resting, and giving ourselves a little extra care.

A warm bowl of soup, a cozy blanket, and a quiet moment can sometimes be exactly what the body needs.
